The Republic of Serbia, together with the Republic of Montenegro, is a constituent part of The State Union of Serbia and Montenegro. It contains two autonomous provinces: Vojvodina and Kosovo and Metohija.
Area Serbia, 34,116 square miles (88,361 square km); Serbia excluding Kosovo and Vojvodina, 21,609 square miles
(55,968 square km).

The climate of Serbia is on the whole continental, with cold, dry winters and warm, humid summers. In Vojvodina, July temperatures average 71° F (22° C), and temperatures in January average from 28° to 32° F (-2° to 0° C). Precipitation in Serbia ranges from 22 to 75 inches (560 to 1,900 mm), depending on elevation and exposure. |
